Anant Ambani & Radhika Merchant’s Pre-Wedding Festivities

Anant Ambani, Reliance Group’s chairman’s youngest son, got married to Radhika Merchant, daughter of Indian business tycoon Viren Merchant. When the Ambani's are involved, can luxury and grandeur ever be far away? This event, for obvious reasons, grabbed national headlines.

Ahead of the event, the Ambani family was involved in ‘anna seva’ at Jogwad village near Reliance Township in Jamnagar, Gujarat. They served Gujarati meals to the 51,000 residents.

Business tycoons like Ratan Tata, Gautam Adani and family, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger, Tata Sons Chairman N.Chandrasekaran, Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, and Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla were graciously present at the event.

Amitabh Bachchan and family, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, Boney Kapoor and family, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Aditya and Rani Chopra, and Anil Kapoor and family made their presence felt from the Bollywood fraternity.

Day 1: An Evening in Everland

On March 1, the first day of the three-day pre-wedding event celebrations, Anant Ambani, his fiance, and family dressed in stylish cocktail attire for an evening themed 'An Evening in Everland'. The evening's big highlight was Rihanna's exclusive performance on the first night of celebrations. According to estimates, Rihanna was paid approximately $5 million to sing at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding celebration. 

Day 2: A Walk on the Wild Side & Mela Rouge

Anant, director of Reliance Industries, started a ‘Vantara’ (Star of the Forest) initiative where animals from around the world are rescued and rehabilitated. They are given a new lease of life there. All 1500 guests were given a tour. An audio guide was provided so that a seamless connection can be created between the animals who have turned a new leaf in the rescue centre. The guests were advised to wear a jungle-theme dress. In the evening, a celebration was done on the lines of the original film ‘Moulin Rouge’. Renowned illusionist David Blaine gave an enthralling performance. Ace designer Manish Malhotra danced to the Bollywood wedding anthem ‘Bole Chudiyaan’. Many performances followed suit. Jahnvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Kha and Khushi Kapoor sizzled on the dance floor. Diljeet Dosanjh’s songs touched the audience’s heart. The audience much loved Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir Khan’s dance. Ranveer and Deepika too gave a couple performance.

Day 3: Tusker Trails & Hastakshar

On this day the wedding guests immersed themselves in the natural beauty of Jamnagar. The bride wore a concept sari by Tarun Tahiliani. Anant Ambani wore an ivory sherwani with diamond buttons by Rohit Bal and a custom brooch by Lorraine Schwartz. The hastakshar was done. The couple signed their wedding papers legally. Nita Ambani produced a wonderful Bharatnatyam performance adding a divine light to the night.
