My first year of college finally ended at Manipal Institute of Communication. More than the quality, I would say there has been a lot of learning. Hence it would be very unbecoming of me to give it a label. During my time, I realized that childhood years were much better. The years following it are too complicated, many times for no reason.

For instance, it is said, “You should explore a lot”. What’s there to explore apart from the library, college premises, or the food offered in the canteen? It all begins from here. When I was studying in the first semester, I thought I should have a lot of friends, which would give me a good network because ‘Network is your net worth’ right? I didn't know where to apply this principle. As time passed, I realized that having some select friends is beneficial so that when the need arises, we are always there for each other. This was one of my biggest lessons.

Manipal Institute of Technology’s hostel campus is the place where you can live peacefully, supported by fresh air. Followed by an evening walk every day and your stay becomes magical. This is exactly what I experienced. Every time I got worried for some reason and this was my solution. If you have a friend willing to come at that time, then there is nothing like it. As I walked around seeing the different colleges situated, the more mesmerized I got by the architecture.

You've got to be a foodie if you are a Bengali. The nearby restaurants offer delicious delicacies of Indian, Oriental, Continental, and local cuisine. Thanks to these joints, I didn't have a problem celebrating my birthday with Aarush and Amal, two of my closest friends. Some of them are Kyoto, Basil Cafe, Saiba etc.

Diplomacy. I was told by my elders that you need to be careful and diplomatic with your block mates, roommates, and classmates. It’s not advisable to pick a fight with students from the above-mentioned categories. During my stay, I realized that If I keep my interactions limited and polite, then all problems get solved. Life during the second semester was so peaceful. I enjoyed and appreciated the freedom which I got.

Lastly, a big shoutout to the faculty teachers at MIC who patiently clarified all my doubts and difficulties. When I set foot on campus after the holidays, I aim to make the most of the facilities provided by the institution and have an even better conduct.
